Out of my Mind Single Release 21st June 2024

SINGLE OUT JUNE 21

Sydney based singer/songwriter Amanda Thomas tackles the art of making mistakes with her debut single  “Out of my Mind” from her upcoming sophomore album.

This guitar-driven track builds throughout with sweet vocals, edgy hooks and self-effacing lyrics that are universal to the human condition of learning no matter what stage of life you’re at.

“Being able to laugh at myself is really important, not taking life too seriously, I acknowledge imperfections and keep growing.”

‘Out of my Mind’ is very much a song about where we all find ourselves sometimes, feeling kind of crazy for doing what we do, but doing it anyway and learning to laugh at ourselves.

Authentic to her core, Amanda Thomas’ upcoming single, heralds a conversation she wants to have with her audience, making them feel like treasured friends, it’s an invitation to join her tribe.

Bio

With a clear voice that cuts right to the heart of the matter, Sydney based singer songwriter Amanda Thomas takes thoughts and feelings and paints a picture with sound that stays with you long after the song is over.

Performing her first original set in 2000, Amanda gigged her way around the Sydney scene and launched her first full length album ‘Midnight Sun’ at The Bridge Hotel, Rozelle in 2009. She continued to cement her reputation and grow a loyal audience, playing esteemed venues around NSW such as the The Opera Bar, Lizottes, The Golden Sheaf, The Canopy Lane Cove and a variety of Festivals of all sizes, from Moocooboola Festival, Hunters Hill to The Granny Smith Festival, Eastwood to name a few.

Her songs ‘Waiting for the Day’ and ‘Let Go’ from her debut album placed 2nd in the Australian Songwriting (ASA) Contest rock/indie category in consecutive years and ‘Just Be’ received an honourable mention in the Billboard World song contest.

Spending many years honing her craft, Amanda’s adult contemporary style draws on her broad experience and eclectic taste in music.  Elements of pop, folk, country, rock and jazz have all gone into the melting pot of influence to create her individual sound, and they reveal themselves through a vocal line, guitar riff, bass line or rhythm in her songs.

On the cusp of releasing her sophomore album, Open Road, Amanda is thrilled to be offering eleven new guitar driven tracks that have been lovingly crafted, sharing her vulnerability and philosophical perspectives on life’s journey. Teaming up for a second time with collaborator, guitarist and producer David Longo, there was an intentional decision production-wise to create a specific soundscape for each song and to push the sonic boundaries of how these songs could be treated, always keeping the lyric as the focus. ‘Out of my Mind’ is the first single to be released 21st June 2024.

From singing and dancing her way around shopping centres and theatres at the tender age of 9 in Johnny Young’s Talent School live performing group, The Bratz, to attending the Bondi Youth Wave program and the College of Country Music in Tamworth, to spending seven years as a member of jazz and gospel vocal ensemble, Jubilation, there is no doubt that Amanda’s experience is immense, broad ranging and makes her ready for anything the music industry has to offer.

With an album of new  songs and a passion for creativity and connecting with her audience, Amanda invites you to join her on the Open Road.
